Like most families, we’ve had our share of challenges. Yet we’ve been fortunate. We have worked hard for sure, but we also have had the support of so many.
David and Kenny were diagnosed with autism at young ages. Our mom, Christine, saw their potential beyond the diagnosis and used movie characters teach them how to communicate. The power of film and entertainment led David to a bachelors in English, and Kenny to a bachelors in Fine Arts.
Now we are looking to build Eck-Schoe Productions and Publications, LLC. to give a place for special needs voices like David and Kenny in the Entertainment Industry.
Growing up, my family has always loved Disney. However, my brothers, David and Kenny, had some obstacles to overcome in the parks. Both David and Kenny have autism, so sensory overload was always a concern going to the parks. To handle it we learned tips and tricks we wanted to share through Sense The Magic. Eck-Schoe started with our dad, Peter, writing a science fiction series. Through his writing process, he shared the story with his kids, and David and Ava became co-authors on the final novel and several short stories. Since, we have started various new stories and even took up scriptwriting. Here you can learn about our past publications.
Right now Christine, David, and Peter are writing a series of 5 rom-coms, with a main character of someone with autism in each.
Ava is also in the process of writing her own novel.
In earning his bachelor’s in Fine Arts, Kenny has created a number of pieces that share his experiences as someone with autism, and someone who experienced kidney failure. See and learn about his works here.
